Are there any side effects involved?

Generally no, but of course individual bodies can act in different ways and you’ll Know if you suffer from allergic reactions. Getting your doctor’s advice first will help. In very extreme cases some people have experienced diarrhoea and sickness, but this is rare. Just ensure you build up your intake slowly. The oil is very safe to take.

Can we get Omega 3 Fatty Acids out of coconut oil?

The simple answer to this is no, so you’d need to get these from cod liver oil or the equivalent. Remember the nutritive value of coconut oil comes from the medium chain fatty acids.

Does it have to be kept in the refrigerator?

The oil is actually quite stable and virgin coconut oil is unrefined and mostly saturated, so keeping it out of direct sunlight is recommended but it doesn’t have to be stored in a fridge.

How much coconut oil do I need to take on a daily basis to feel its benefits fully?

Experts recommend 3.5 tablespoons of coconut oil each day, but it’s best to start by taking in very small amounts to get the body used to it before building up the intake. Your Doctor can advise you on this.

If I cook using coconut oil will it become hydrogenated?

It’s important to know hydrogen isn’t put into the oil and it remains stable even at high temperatures, but you shouldn’t cook past the smoke stage. Hydrogenation is actually an industrial process and we add nothing to our oil whatsoever.

Is coconut oil a solid or liquid?

The oil remains liquid at 75 degrees Fahrenheit or 25 degrees Celsius. Below this it remains in solid fat form but just applying a little heat will liquefy it. It can be stored either way very safely.

Is this safe for pregnant women to take?

The Lauric acid contained in the oil has been proven to be beneficial to pregnant women but it’s best to stick with a low fat diet when carrying a child. Check with your medical professional first.
